Six vehicles made the long awaited, most anticipated trip of the year down to the Springs. The weather was kind to us I was expecting (hoping) for a minus night but as luck would have it the min temp yielded was just above zero for the night., including the Friday night as well. At the end of the day I would say yes it was cold, but not freezing weather, my two and a half old didn’t seem to mind.

Once again the map of the Park made its way onto the floor of the Patrol to be then covered in water from a leaking water bottle and with the mud mats already covered in dust and dirt, soon rendered the map useless. So I decided to wing it once again by showing the guy’s/girls some of the better tracks around the park. For what ever reason I remember most tracks I have driven so I rarely use a map these day’s, I wish my academic ability was the same.

Some of the tracks have eroded badly with amount of traffic that they probably get along with rain water has really chewed out some good tracks, turning those tracks into extreme. But overall the Park was pretty well dusty and dry and very soft, but no harder or any more challenging than any other track anywhere else.

Sat afternoon we called it quits a fraction early to prepare oneself for well (I don’t remember why we called it a day so early.) That’s right so I could move my camp site across 10 feet because in the tree a huge dead branch that was way up there and silly DADDY had put the tent directly underneath it.

At four o’clock the Park opens up a little hill climb beside the camp ground which is open to any vehicle, generally campers from all around go for a looksee and cheer the drivers as they make their way up the track. After surveying and closely studying every obstacle and weighing up the pro’s and cons and giving into peer group pressure (again) I decided to give it a crack, and stuff me I made it on the second attempt.

Sat night was the usual campfire, good company, alcohol, good food, jokes, alcohol and ALSO THE CAMPOVEN COOKOFF. Now the competition was pretty tough once again and some thought had gone into how to knock off the reigning champ, the desserts were Deep fried Mars Bars, Sticky Date Pudding with final one being Poached Pears in Red wine. Now as the Dessert judge had fallen down ill (probably food poisoning) could not make it on this trip they were not judged, I’m not sure what we are going to do there.
Sunday we spent driving a couple more tracks challenging ourselves and laughing and generally having a bloody good time out there burning around. We did have a couple a mishaps while out there, Maximus with very muddy feet decided it was time for a lie down in bed PAPPA BEAR was very upset. Gaz had issues with a tyre on more than one occasion on the little go anywhere Jeep.

It was a very good trip, I do enjoy cold weather camping have I told you that before?
I will post some pictures up tomorrow I'm off to bed, its late
