It all began on a fine but somewhat cloudy Saturday morning at a McDonalds (as all good trips do) some where in South East Queensland.

It wasn't long before we were hitting the 1st hill, a nice long one on Waller Rd that was looking a little worse for wear ( ) than when Ben and I checked it a couple of years ago.

After the hill it was pretty flat going until just before the finish of Waller Rd. First there was a couple of little obstacles to play with.

And then we were confronted by a nice hill with a great big erosion gully twisting its way down the middle and leaving some tricky sections. The Toyota thought that it would flex its legs a little.

And this time with some "Toyota Dust".

After we got to the end of Wallers Rd, we had a quick stop for a very picturesque game of French Cricket.

We then headed for Crows Nest, but not before passing this guy on the track

We had lunch at Crows Nest National Park and then went for short walk to one of the water holes where some of the members ventured in

After lunch, we had a short stop at Crows Nest

before Tim used some of his local knowledge to take us to an alternate and more exciting route down the range. But unfortunately some motor cross riders decided to have an event in the area and the road was closed.

Ben headed home from there and Tim took me to another of his haunts on the mountain and we certainly got to engage our rear lockers with some short but moggily hill climbs.

All and all it was a good day. I got to see some new places and I would like to thank both Ben and Tim for a great day out.

We had an excellent day out. It was good to have the time to get up Wallers Rd. That's a really good hill that one.

The first part of Wallers Rd is really nice and rocky.

I thought I finally found the holy grail of chimney logs.

Sounds like a great trip, with a few areas that offered a challenge.
Unfortunately we were currently away and couldn't make the trip. But we did some 4 wheel driving .... through a jungle, then into some caves where we drove over an old wooden bridge, also dodged a snake (but ours was 6 metres tall and tried to eat everyone in the car), and finally drove under a huge boulder that almost rolled onto the car.

Anyone recognise the car? Hint .... Mr Jones drove one just like this, well, almost like this.

I wonder if I could drive a Prado down this track?

Cheers
Dave.
