City View 4WD Park - 9th August

Post by Capella_Ben »

On a bright Saturday morning we all met up at Beaudesert ready for this trip. I had to go to the ATM, but I was sure someone would be late and I'd be safe from writing the trip report. Well, no; everyone was on time but we were least on time... When I signed the trip sheet I noticed that all the cars started with "p"; Prado's and Patrol's, I was the odd one out.

On the trip we had:
* Cuboid
* CapellaBen
* RegyRocky
* Dave
* Boxy
* Troy
* Puma

City View 4WD park has now completely consumed all of the old Scenic Rim Adventure Park, so it is now quite a large park. It looks like it has not rained there for quite a while and it was really dry and really dusty.

After signing in at the office we headed off to the main campsite to air down and then we started out at Daniel's Dragway. This is rated as an "extreme" track but it was not too bad. There were a few challenges, but with a bit of work we go through no worries.

After a few more tracks we got through a fence and looked at the track that went down the hill and up the next. The track up looked great (really washed out and rough). It didn't look like everyone would get up that so Mark headed down to have a look. While he was doing that I gauged everyone's interest in following or taking another boring looking track. Luckily everyone wanted to follow.

We followed Mark down and when we caught up, he was in a pretty ferocious washout. We went over to help out and found out that his front drivers tyre was going down. With a bit of time pressure we got him down to a flatter spot. I drove down afterwards and hooked up the winch to stabilise him so he could change his tyre. No change was required, it was just a rolled bead. With a bit of help with a high lift jack it was all fixed.

On the way to lunch we took another track to get up to one of the campsites. There were a few challenges on the way but the last one was a beauty. A bit of winching was involved for a couple of cars.

With the kids near death from extreme hunger we had a nice lunch amongst the cow pats (but with nice views).

After lunch the sky changed and got rather dark. With one eye on the sky and one on the tracks, we cruised around a few more tracks.

A great day was had by all! Thanks to Mark for leading the trip!

Hi Capella_Ben, Nice trip report.

Some additional photos are :

How Prado owners drive when nobody is looking.

And if the angle is too high, there is also someone to help hold the vehicle upright.
Image

Here is more of the section where Partols needed winching.
Image

Just checking to see that nothing is stuck under the car.
Image

But most of the tracks were reasonable good.
Image

But some sections of track proved to a little difficuly and/or dusty.

Thanks again to Mark for leading this trip. Was fun (and now back to repairing the rear bumper of the Prado).

Dave.

Thanks Mark for a great trip.

It was a really good trip with some pretty hairy sections. Good trip report Ben

I should mention the video files are very large in size and may take some time to download.

Hi RegyRocky,

Thanks for posting the videos. You captured some great footage.

I also corrected many of the photo links in my previous post. The correct photos should now been seen in my post above.
