Hi all,

We have a camping weekend + Monday planned for somewhere away from the lights to watch the Gerinids meteor shower due around 2am on Monday the 15th of Dec.
Please add a post to this thread if you are interested in coming along, and also if you have a suggestion for the location.

Note that unless you plan to pack up and drive home immediately after the meteor shower, you may want to stay at the camp site at least Monday morning to sleep in.
Below is a link that has more detail near the bottom of the page.

The meteor display, known as the Geminid meteor shower is called so as it appears to radiate from the constellation Gemini, and is thought to be the result of debris cast off from an asteroid-like object called 3200 Phaethon.

Any ideas for where would be a good place Dave?

It's a little close to the due date for us, so not sure yet whether we'll be coming.

Depending who is interested, we can go to a number of locations. The Springs 4x4 park or another camp ground near Warrick has been suggested.
At the Christmas party, someone else suggested Moreton Is.

But so far, no one else has responded to say they are interested?????

We're interested but being one week short of the due date our preference would be for somewhere close to home. Something like Bestbrook http://www.bestbrook.com.au/ could be good.

They even have a few tame 4wd tracks to explore and they have a pool for the heat!

Tracey is just about to start some vacation employment for her uni course so won't be able to make it.
Put me down as interested - I can probably escape for an overnighter on the Sunday night to see the meteor shower if not called in for work Sunday.
Cheers,
Don

Sorry Dave, we won't be able to make it. The company is closing for the Christmas break on the 19th, so taking the Monday off would not be appreciated.
Hope it's a clear night for you.

So in the end it turns out we're busy on the Sunday afternoon anyway, so we won't be able to make this trip after all.

The wife and I might be available, will have to talk to her though. What about sundown national park? As you know there is a lot of out of the way campsites on top of hills...
