Bribie Island Day Trip - Sunday 13th Nov

Post by Dave »

Though we had a forecast of gusty storms, we hit the Northern Access Track with a little sunshine beaming on Bribie Island. The lucky people who could attend were Keri with a car full of relatives and a friend, Gridpack with his navigator, Tim and Hayley (did I get the spelling right) testing their brand new 4x4, and Dave with his tribe.

We ended up doing the usual trip, i.e. up the Northern Access track, then head north to the WW2 forts, then south along the beach to stop at First Lagoon.
Though after we hit the beach, Dave needed a change of driver. That yellow thing on the bonnet gives a good hint.

We were still dry by the time we stopped at First Lagoon, and even had some blue sky behind us.

Then, just after setting up the chairs, table, and various snacks, it was time for nature to wash any salt spray off our cars. But the wash down didn't last long, and it was time to have an early lunch.
We had one more wash down as we almost finished dinner, so some people finished their dinner in the car.

But just as we were ready to leave, the sun started coming out.

We had some interesting weather, but it didn't really slow us down (well, it sped up our dinner plans). But it was still a great day out. Many thanks to all who came along.

Thanks to Dave for leading this trip. Bribie is always a very pleasant afternoon, even if storms are floating about.
I've been slow again at putting the trip report up - I'm sure Dave dictates it driving on the way home.
But here are a few more photos from the day.
My daughter Hayley, her partner Tim and my granddaughter Chelsea tagged along to try out their new Isuzu - which performed very well in the sand.
Tim was relieved to find the inland track was a lot wider than I'd been telling him. No scratches!

Keri and Tim just up ahead. Fiona isn't lacking confidence in the sand - that is her way up ahead of us!! It was a struggle to keep up.

The lagoon is always a nice spot.

We had a bit of a deadline to get off the beach before the tide came in too far - fortunately the storms hurried us along.

Soon as we leave the beach - out comes the sun, blue sky and a beautiful sunset!!

A great afternoon - thanks Dave.
