Gordon Country 21st and 22nd April 18

Post by GridPack »

After a rainy Friday afternoon and a "so-so" weather forecast for the weekend, we decided the weather owed us a favour and packed the camp gear. Tracey and I met Mark, Arie and Pep-C (pronounced Pepsi) at Aratula with the weather looking like it was going to cooperate. We pushed on up through Cunninghams Gap and on to Gordon Country.

After registering and finding a nice campsite at Banshee Gully campground, we set up the gear and headed off to the tracks...via the playpen of course. The tracks wind through some terrific countryside and the weather was looking pretty good! The tracks were pretty well maintained (no branches needing removal) and parts of the tracks that require a bit more care were well marked. We counted 4 signs with similar warnings before this steep section.

There are some very pretty tracks along the ranges on the property.

Some of the tracks had slow moving obstacles...and did not seem to be at all impressed or worried by a couple of 4WDs.

We decided to head for the campsite before sundown so we would have plenty of time to tuck into the cheese, cracker, wine, and all the nibblies prior to a steak dinner. A very pleasant evening around a campfire with excellent company - even Pep-C was feeling very mellow by next morning. And the weather just got better and better! It's a tough life - but someone has to do it!

Next morning we did a short run up through the national park then headed off before lunch.

I forgot about the trip report Don. Thanks for organising a great trip. Arie really enjoyed it and she is on to doing Foodie trips now ;)

I only have a few photos to add.

The stubborn cattle - they just did not want to move and when they did, they did not want to get off the track, we must have followed them for at least 200m before they got out of the way.
