Bribie Island 23rd January 2021

Post by BenJancz »

On Sunday Mariana, Indiana and I woke up nice and early and headed off to Bribie Island to meet Don, Tracey and Chelsey. Indy and Chelsea had alot of fun last time they met and Indy was super excited to catch up with Chelsea again. We all met at the Servo on headed off to the inland track after a bit of a chat.

The track was in pretty good condition, where it was soft it was only moderately soft, and the corrugations were not too bad as well. I noticed a Ford Escape and a Nissan X-Trail heading in the opposite direction without too much trouble. There was plenty of water around which was a good sign for the lagoons.

Indy spotted a kangaroo on the way

The weather and beach was perfect

The first lagoon was idyllic, it looks as though at some stage the water had drained to the ocean and then resealed itself. There is now alot more shore line to park up against.

There was time for a splash in the waves

The we headed off to the Bribie Island SLSC for lunch where the food lived up to the hype.

It was a great day, there was a little something in there for everyone, a bit of off beach driving, some swimming and waves, and a yummy lunch. Thanks for suggesting the trip Don, we had a ball.
Cheers Ben and Mariana and Indiana

Great report Ben. It was great that you Mariana and Indy could come at such short notice. Chelsea was excited at both the prospect of going to the beach and playing with Indy!
I can't add much to the report, your pics were great - Cos and David must be rubbing off on you.

Here is another pic of the Inland Track - it was in good nick and very scenic as usual.

When we hit the beach at the north end, the kids were already nagging about getting into the water so we decided to bypass the usual detour to the Gun Emplacements and head for the lagoon. The beach at the northern end was relatively quiet - unlike the popular lagoons.

We managed to find a nice spot in prime position just the right size for 2 FJ Cruisers to park side by side with our awnings out.

The 4wd play was replaced with serious play!
