Stanthorpe Foodie Trip - postponed due to SE Qld Lock Down

Post by GridPack »

Hi All,

Subject to Covid restrictions:

We are planning a foodie trip to the Stanthorpe area on the 7th and 8th August.

The trip itinerary includes visiting Donnellys Castle (for a leg stretch) and a smattering of establishments where we can taste or purchase wine, gourmet Jam, chilli/garlic sauces, cheese, craft beer, chocolates etc around the Stanthorpe area.
Dinner on the Saturday is planned to be a sunset pizza feast sitting outside around fire pits at a winery - booked for 4:30 pm. (Bring a warm coat)
Since it looks like entering NSW may not be advisable, we have booked Sunday breakfast at Wallangarra Railway Station (8:30am) and can work our way back towards home via Heavenly Chocolates or even the "Market in the Mountains" markets if time permits. The eating venues we have booked seem as Covid safe as possible.
We may break into a couple of groups to visit wineries etc depending upon interests - and also to manage numbers at some establishments that have Covid number restrictions.

Those attending should have already booked accommodation in Stanthorpe as it is a busy time of year on the Granite belt.

Where: Stanthorpe area
Cost: Bring your wallet - Accommodation, meals and allow for purchasing wines / jams / beers / cheese etc at wineries etc
When: Saturday 7th August and Sunday 8th August
Meeting Place: I have booked a table for Breakaway on Saturday at Suttons Juice Factory Cidery and Cafe (diagonally opposite the Big Apple) at 11.30am. This will be the official meeting point for the trip, however for anyone who hasn't been before I'll meet you at the Aratula bakery at 9:30am.
UHF: Channel 13
Trip Leader: Don - 0407 030 693

Please confirm here if you are coming - we also have one new member and 1 guest (with passengers) along. It should be a nice comfortable relaxing weekend - and you can leave low range at home.
If you have favourite establishments in the area that you'd like to visit - post them up.

The Lockdown has been extended until 4pm Sunday

“So we’re advising south-east Queenslanders in the 11 LGAs that the lockdown will be extended until 4pm on Sunday. That will make it an 8-day lockdown.”

I have cancelled my booking :(
fingers and toes crossed for the desert trip

Yep due to lock down in SE Qld being extended to next Sunday we will need to postpone this trip. The weather was looking perfect too...
I'll advise the venues where we are booked in for meals etc.
Could everyone who has made accommodation bookings ring up and advise the motel that we have to postpone to a date yet to be set.
The sooner the better.
Cheers,
Don
