had a little problem on the weekend...

Has anybody heard of the bolt holding the cam gear shooting itself out?!

Well you have now!!!
The bolt holding one of my cam gears has shot itself out, punched a hole through the alloy timing cover and dislodged a pulley!!!
If that pulley wasnt there, the radiator would of had a nice hole in it!

Anyway... racq towing came to the rescue. Getting it stripped down tomorrow for the verdict.
Hopefully the cam gears are not damaged! If that the case - new bolt and new timing cover and half day labour. $500 - $1000!
WORST CASE... Cam gears damaged looking at $3000!!! FMD!

Wow - I hope no significant damage has been done, and that it's not too expensive to fix.

Diesel engines and "bolts". They don't seem to mix (isn't that right Ben). Actually, bolts and steering arms aren't that good either

Your very lucky that the gear didn't come off and the timing went out. Valves will loose in a battle with a piston!

That timing cover will make a good trophy.

Looking really good Tim. I like the winch too. Was the install fairly painless?

That's looking really good Tim.

When you have it all back together and looking spotless, we will take you on a trip to Levuka to get that bush pin-stripping on all panels so that it looks like a real 4x4. :P

Thanks for sharing the photos. Great to see the various stages.

How did the painting end up? I assume the white is just undercoat for the lime green...
