A beach trip is planned for the Labour Day long weekend, 5-7 October (I plan to stay an extra day leaving the 8th) at Waddy Point (TOP) camping area.
Where: Fraser Island
Cost: Camping $5.45 per person per night
$42.50 1 month vehicle permit,

Barge $110 return car, car and trailer $170 return.

When: Saturday 5th October
Meeting Place: BP Morayfield Travel Centre time to be confirmed
UHF: Channel 13
Trip Standard: Expected to be BLACK Diamond

This is a dingo-fenced Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QWPS) managed camp-ground located back from the main beach (2-3 minutes' walk).
Well laid out, spotlessly clean facilities (toilets and showers) and one of the now few places you can have an open fire (in the provided fire pits) on Fraser Island.
Bring plenty of $1 coins for the HOT showers. Bring your own firewood (no firewood from Fraser Island is allowed to be burnt).
Bring a fishing rod if you want to catch your dinner. Surf casting, boat rod or even a hand line will guarantee you a great catch.
I would also recommend bringing some extra fuel as the cost is rather high on the island but I also plan to have a fuel stop at Rainbow Beach.
There is phone/3G coverage in the campground from the nearby Orchid Beach village, and the Orchid Beach Store/Pub has hot pies, cold beer and other basic suppliers including fuel.
The beach at Waddy Point is SENSATIONAL!
There are currently plenty of tent and trailer sites remaining, but as there are limited numbers these will go fast as it is a long weekend so get in early to avoid missing out!
Here is a link to last year's trip report to give you an idea on what to expect.
