Got to love insurance companies, to many accessories and mods the underwriters won't insure for one 4wd "designed insurance", still waiting on another, may have to lower list and just get salvage rights.

Have to say it again, I LOVE INSURANCE COMPANIES......NOTTTTTTTTT!

i hear you!

My listed mods cost more than my car.

The only insurance company who would insure me was shannons. I had full comprehensive insurance, was costing me little over a $1000 per year.

Shannons wouldn't insure although very helpful with suggestions, Its a nightmare, can't get the value we want for the accessories although they are included, we would be lucky to find the equivalent vehicle not modified for the value they are giving with out heaps more kms on the clock, or the hand grenade 3lt GU's', Below are the worst that will insure and the not so worst. Our agreed value would ideally be a minium of $36,000, that won't happen, free salvage rights are the best we could hope for.

Interesting info Puma. I'm trying to no over-capitalise mine too much for the same reason.

I'm not sure if it helps, but RACQ seems to insurance the vehicle as standard, and then asks you to list all accessories and provide a replacement cost.
So I have my vehicle covered with a LONG list of extras now. The cost is a little higher, but still reasonable.

They are basically taking the glasses guide price, based on higher km's than ours, and agreeing to that, firstly isn't that a European guide, and secondly not adding any of the value of the accessories, but are covering as if they are on, within the agreed value.

Some of the companies PDS and PED have stated gazetted roads only, and one which now escapes my memory even stated excludes parks as per and including Landcruiser park.

Racq underwriters wouldn't touch it they said accessories/mods could not be more than 30% of the value of the vehicle,

I'm on agreed value. You don't have to mention all the mods, but they try to decrease the value insures each year by a lot. Don't they know these things are appreciating in value!
