Booloumba Falls Day Trip - Sunday 25th Oct or 1st Nov
Posted: October 18th, 2020, 9:31 pm
Greetings all,
We have not had much luck with the weather this year (aside from the desert trip of course) and Sunday 25th forecast is looking marginal at this stage so I'm hedging my bet. Pencil in two possible dates :Sunday 24th October and Sunday 1st November. I'll wait till later in the week to confirm the 25th - but the 25th is plan A, 1st November is plan B.
This trip will start at Kilcoy and head north along the blacktop to the Western end of Sunday Creek Road. Sunday Creek Road is over 40km of dirt road through very scenic forest, and we divert off about 3/4 of the way along to a shortcut to Booloumba Falls.
There is a 1.3km walk down from the falls carpark to the falls along a well maintained walking track and there is a couple of magnificent little swimming holes and the falls themselves to see for those who want to take the full walk, and a coffee/natter session for those who think waterfalls are overrated. It is likely to be a warm day so bring your togs! We will then push on and stop for a picnic lunch at Charlie Moreland campgrounds. Depending upon the time and inclination of everyone we can then head north to explore up around Imbil township and Borumba Dam (I've never been there) or revisit a track we partly explored a bit further south near Bellthorpe prior to heading for home. If it looks like storms we may dash for home early afternoon.
Where: Through the Conondale State Forest to Booloumba Falls
Cost: Free
When: Sunday 25th October (or 1st November)
Meeting Place: Meet at Yowie Park at Kilcoy for a 9.00 am start. (Western end of Kilcoy)
UHF: Channel 13
Trip Standard: Blue
Trip Leader: Don
