Looks like the Cooloola trip is off then, except for Louis. Hope the weather forecast isn't as bad as predicted for you.
Boxy, the Cooloola way is a dry weather track only. Arie and I drove it 2 weeks ago and there is a bit of red clay through there that would make it difficult in the wet, plus the track is pretty damage in places due to other using it in the wet.
Scenic Rim may be a better option, although the weather forecast has now changed to rain on Saturday as well. How about we plan for Scenic Rim for Saturday and reassess tomorrow night.

Sounds good to me. I'll give them a call to make sure that they will be open.cuboid wrote:Scenic Rim may be a better option, although the weather forecast has now changed to rain on Saturday as well. How about we plan for Scenic Rim for Saturday and reassess tomorrow night.
I received a severe weather warning in the mail today: http://www.bom.gov.au/cgi-bin/wrap_fwo.pl?IDQ20032.html
Heavy rain and 90 km/hr wind gusts....

Another option might be the Condamine River. With a little rain, the level might rise to something interesting. One of the guys here at work did it a couple of weeks ago and it was quote low then.

Just talked to Scenic Rim Adventure Park. They have only had 3mm so far. They will update their facebook page if they get too much rain and have to close the park. At the moment it looks good.

This is bringing back memories of last years Australia Day, we planned to go to the old Scenic Rim then as well.
Dave and I are keen for Scenic Rim Tomorrow. I'll put up another post with the details.

I think it was a wise decision not to go - just checked http://www.seabreeze.com.au/graphs/qld1.asp to see gusts to 49 knots at 11 am this morning at Double Island Point.
I've been watching the radar map for rainfall most of the night ..... rain, rain, rain, and ... more rain. My family was really looking forward to the Freshwater trip, but with this rain and wind, it would have really spoiled the trip. I hope Louis isn't being washed away.
The Cooloola Recreation Area was officially closed from 25 Jan. I have found that you can apply for a credit on your camping on the website, just go to Active Bookings, select Cancel and select continue. They ask for a reason for your refund and I hope the fact that the park is closed should be reason enough. Just have to wait now and see if it gets refunded.
