I'm planning a Stradbroke Island day trip on Sat 20/7/13. There is a vehicle-ferry special on Saturdays, down from $140 to $80 return. If you don't already have one, an annual vehicle permit must be purchased for $38.25. Unfortunately the 7:00am ferry is the latest ferry at this special price.
Please let me know if you are interested in coming along by Wednesday 26th of June, as I'll phone up to ensure there is space on the vehicle ferry.
Where: North Stradbroke Island
Cost: $80 for Vehicle, $38.25 for annual vehicle permit.
When: Saturday 20 July
Time: 6:40 am for a 7:00am ferry.
Meeting Place: Cleveland Ferry Terminal
UHF: Channel 13
Trip Standard: Expected to be Green, with an option for a couple of short "Blue" standard detours.
What to bring: Bring lunch and something to sit on, camera, sunscreen.
Plan for the day.
- Catch the 7:00am ferry - The Big Red Cat, and arrive on the Island 7:45am.
- Pick up Vehicle permits, and drive down the centre of the island (Bitumen road).
- Take the turnoff on the inland 4x4 track and head north. There are some very scenic views are on this track from the top of the hills.
- Hit the bitumen near Point Lookout and stop for morning tea/coffee. Yes - some nice coffee shops here.
- Walk the raised board-walk around North Gorge and do dolphin / Whale spotting.
- Lower the tyre pressures and drive down the eastern beach. Stop at the southern tip and have lunch on the dunes among the shade of the trees. Maybe a group BBQ?
- Head back up the beach, and turn off on the mid island track. Here we can wash any salt and sand off the cars and give the Keyholes track a go.
- Air up the tyres and stop off that Brown lake. Kids can give the playground a test drive here.
- Head back to the ferry terminal to catch a 4:00pm ferry.
- Arrive Cleveland at 4:45pm.

Hi All,
The great news is that there are still many places still left on the 7:00am ferry to Stradie. So if you would like to come on the trip, would you like to call Stradbroke Ferries on 07 3488 5300, and make the following booking :
7:00am 20/7/13 from Clevelend to Dunwich (Big Red Cat)
4:00pm 20/7/13 from Dunwich to Cleveland (Big Red Cat)
The total cost should $80, and this booking can only be done via phone, i.e. online it will cost $140 (which is the normal price).

Well ..... I've made the booking for the ferry, and asked them to reserve some good weather for the 20th.
