Gordon Country 4WD and overnight camp 16-17th April 2016

Post by Dave »

It was the mainly sunny day as 8 of the 10 groups (cuboid, GridPack, CBM_64, Capella_Ben, Boxy, Michael, BenJanc and Dave) met at Aratula. Around a hour later, we arrived at Gordon Country, and caught up with Keri who was already looking for the ideal camp site. The group had a quick look at various camp sites, but Keri's recommendation of 'Black Cockatoo' was too good to bypass for a group of this size.

We set up camp, and hit the tracks. RegyRocky arrived shortly afterwards, and was able to meet up with us on the tracks.

We were then able to have some fun in the playground.

We spent much of the afternoon looking at the nice scenery around the older tracks. After collecting some firewood, we headed back to our camp to have dinner, and then share lots of stories around a great camp fire. By 11:30pm, the last of the group hit the sleeping bags. For a nice warm day, it did get fairly cool at night though.

On the Sunday morning, we again hit the tracks to explore the newer tracks at Gordon Country.

Here is a photo of the group vehicles.

There were some good hill climbs, but nobody had any real difficulty.

But lunch time, we arrived back at camp to pack up, and then head home. Oh a whole, it was a great weekend with great company. I know my family really enjoyed the weekend.

Thanks for a fun weekend everyone, I'm looking forward to doing it again soon. Here is a link to some photos I posted on Facebook of the campsite. Hopefully the link works, if not I can try posting them straight onto the forum.

And a big Thanks to Dave for leading the trip - and to Mark for the suggestion!
It was a terrific weekend - we thoroughly enjoyed it. And great to see a big roll up!

Nothing wrong with Dave's photos.... but some of those photos from Mark and Cosmas .... wow!
I've trolled through my happy snaps and picked out a few of the playground ...and one semi arty one!

I also have one showing mostly roof of a rather shiny new Prado going up a bank - but thought I'd better not post it in case it contradicts the owners safe and steady story to those at home! :D

Hi Gridpack,

Nice photos too. The one of the fire is just fantastic. I'll definitely have to bring my Canon 7D camera on next trip.
