It was a tight fit for some

And here are all the lucky participants for the day

Once we hit the island, we organised our permits. First stop of the day was Brown Lake. It was a nice little drive 3/4 of the way around the lake. There were some nice little beaches around the back. Cos had the camera out.

From there we headed to Tripod track. After almost missing the entry, the going was pretty easy until we hit this (we had already removed some of the tree before this photo was taken).

There was a call for a chainsaw, but the west we could do was a bow saw. After some cutting and winching, we had cleared enough room for us to get the vehicles through. We did our good deed for the day as we passed many cars heading in the other direction that would have completed 3/4 of the track before being stopped by the obstacle.
We kept heading north and eventually ended up back on the black top (not before noticing some side tracks that could be checked out on a camping weekend).

From their we headed through Amity Point before hitting Flinders Beach. The tides had been pretty high the day before and had caused some beach erosion, but the tide was low enough for us to get around without any problems.

We drove Flinders Beach, dodging the multitude of people at the exit at the eastern end of the beach. From there we headed to the main beach, with a small detour through Point Lookout. We decided to Drive down to the the Southern end of the island, looking for a lunch spot on the way. The beach was like a highway for the majority of the way. As we got closer to the southern end of the island though, there were quite a few fallen trees to dodge. After getting all the way down to "The Pin", we turned around and Don found a great little spot to stop for a bite to eat.

View from our lunch spot (hard to take, I know)

We had a nice slow lunch, and by the time we had finished it was time to start making our way back to the ferry. It wasn't long until we were on a very busy ferry heading back toward civilization.

Thanks to Cos for organising his first trip, it was a good one. If we were to head back for a camping trip, there are a few little areas to have a bit of an explore around.
