Glasshouse October 09 [Recovered]

Post by Capella_Ben »

Pictutes will happen be patient, The day proved to be excellent both in weather and company
This time we had six vehicles on Saturday carrying 17 people, so not a bad turn out. We were in the company of some new potential members so I had to behave and so I passed on my Village idiot duties to Steve who was most gracious in taking them.
1x Patrol
1x Landcruiser
3 x Hilux
1 x Mazda
We found most of the tracks were dry with some of the water holes still full so alot of the challenging tracks from last time were just a dusty dirt road with big ruts. We did find some hill climbs where some drivers were tempted while some had a quick bite to eat, others a quick roll in the dust.

We drove around exploring new tracks, some were motor bike tracks so the track did close up on the odd accasion, but my Patrol just barged its way thru it, giving the duco a bit of curry.
No recoveries on Saturday which has to be a first, we did find ourselves going down this potential track until the track disapeared into a massive eroded washout section we had found ourselves going down Little Red, we thought we might play it safe and try it another day in some elses vehicle, so we turned around at ended up at the lookout to say our goodbyes to the day trippers, half the group.

The rest of of us returned back to base camp for well earned thirst quencher with light refreshments in a comfortable chair, whie the day trippers sat in peakhour on the Bruce Highway on their way home. Saturday night was huge (Steve would'nt remember but it was.) We had a small fire and Steve and Kim did a one in a million Lamb Roast in the camp oven, which was very very tasty, Shelly shouted everybody with dessert which was?????????? just cannot remember the name of it but very tasty all the same, you have it at Christmas time ???????? no it was not Plum pudding.

Sunday morning came around a little early for some but after a hearty breakfast they, we, I felt a little better and ready to face the day's tracks we headed off by 10am to do some more exploring down forestry trails looking for that elusive track or play areas. We found some tracks that would prove to be extreme in the wet but being dry we drove straight thru. Again we found ourselves on motor bike trails but nothing challenging. In our adventures we did some back tracking covering some old ground we covered on the first day and we found mud and heaps of it, so with abit proding with a branch and abit of right boot we got thru unscathed we did notice a couple old broken snatch straps lying around?? but we continued along this loop (circuit) track only to find a dam built in the middle of the track. Not to be out done by such a obstacle Steve and Scooter proded with a branch again plotting the perfect path to traverse thru it for muggins writing this, again more broken snatch straps were spotted near the area was this a hint.

So I started to drive through it very slowly, which stopped as fast as it begun, with the left hand side head light submerged and hearing the fan roaring thru the water it was time to shut everything down get out and evaluate what the hell I just did. No problems we just got two vehicles in tandem to pull me backwards, oh! by the way I wont be starting my motor so I cannot help. They got me out and Scooters vehicle increased in length by a foot as his vehicle was in the middle.

As we started packing up and laughing about what took place a stranger approached us requiring OUR HELP to get a stranded Jeep out of another Bog hole further up the track, so without even giving it a second thought we were off to check this out. This Jeep did no proding he just drove thru one section which was a little bit to deep the front half of his truck was very stuck...............................to be continued have to go to work
