Hi,
During April's monthly club meeting, I had mentioned there are videos on YouTube showing very bad recovery technics, and some of the things that go wrong.
So I'll add a few links below.
Snatch Strap with a Bow Shackle in the middle, and attached to a tow-ball. Start watching from the 7 minute mark, and see the condition of the tow ball at the end. Have a look at the position of the spectators. Soooooo dangerous.
And a bow shackle in a tyre.
I'm still looking for the one where the bow shackle went through the back tyre, through the back door, and hit the front passenger head rest.
Recovery fail videos
Re: Recovery fail videos
Hi, thought I'd post another video. Titled 4x4 Fails, the author was really just showing vehicles being recovered with snatch straps, winches, etc.
But the real fail are the recovery methods, and location of the spectators. Have a look at the first 60 seconds and see how many mistakes/fails you can see, e.g. spectators in the wrong location (2nd clip), snatch straps connected to towballs (3rd clip), etc. Scary stuff.
BTW - if you do watch the whole video, that's a 150 series Prado being towed down the road. The 120 series would never fail (well, hopefully not).

The Hilux @ 5:00 is rather interesting. Some not-too-good driving by the 80's
