Bribie Island - Afternoon Trip 1st of Jan

Post by Dave »

Sorry for the short notice, but we only decided on this trip a few minutes ago. To celebrate the new year, we are planning an afternoon trip to Bribie Island, i.e. turn up on the Island around 4:30pm, drive down the beach, and cook up some dinner as the sun goes down. Hopefully this time the weather will be a little better than our Christmas event.

Where: Bribie Island
Cost: Requires a beach permit. Log into http://www.nprsr.qld.gov.auto book your beach permit online. A one month and one year permit is available.
When: Friday 1st ofJan at 4:30pm. Let Dave know if you are planning to attend, and we will look out for you at the BP.
Meeting Place: Meet at the BP Servo (BP, Cnr Goodwin Dve & Hornsby Rd Hornsby Road, Bribie Island QLD 4507)
UHF: Channel 13
Trip Standard: Green
Trip Leader: Dave

What to bring : Something to wear in or near the water, something for dinner (i.e. to have dinner on the beach, so please bring your own food and drinks).

The trip went well. Because it rained a few days before hand, we didn't take MaxTrax, and didn't even lower the tire pressure to cross the soft sand.
The temperature was only 26 degrees, and was overcast, but the wind wasn't too high. So it was fairly pleasant on the sand.

The lagoon has again completely changed. It was almost like going to a new location. The lagoon must have briefly broken through to the ocean because there was a deep (well, 1 metre) channel in the lagoon.

Dave.

BTW Ben .... nice new icon, but the vehicle needs to be covered in mud or sand :lolno:
