Instead of heading off the beaten track the bitumen will take us right into the heart of the Granite Belt wine region.
Known for its cool climate, Stanthorpe orchard and pastoralists date back to the 1840’s. Tin played a huge part during the 1840’s – 1870’s in putting Stanthorpe on the map and although the tin prices were very strong for a few years, the prices eventually dropped. The building of the railway 1886, connecting Toowoomba – Sydney provided employment for a short time but it was the orcharding that sustained economy for the town.
Grapes were first planted here in the 1860’s, encouraged on by Father Jerome Davadi, Catholic parish priest. Today there are many winery’s to visit.
Join us for the experience of tasting some of the finest well-known wines, indulge in the mouth-watering delectable Liqueurs or make the pain-staking choice over which of the 19 different types of beers to take home, all of which are brewed on site by Granite belts first Brewery. For the not-so alcoholic drinkers in mind there is a collection of delicious jams, relishes, chutneys to name a few not forgetting to mention cheese tasting from Qld’s highest & coldest dairy farm. For the kids, there’s a selection of yummy real fruit ice creams as well as hot desserts for those cold winter days. As night falls and the stars litter the night time sky, grab the opportunity to get a photo of the stars from under the Quart Pot creek rail bridge (Red bridge) may need tripod!! 106.7m in length, constructed in 1886. Sunday is market day. All the fresh fruit & veg that a true country market can produce along with the arts & crafts
Wither it is for the day or the weekend, there is an experience to be had by all. Don't forget to bring your winter woollies

I'll need to confirm closer to time if I'll be able to be there for the 2 nights or just 1.
Cheers,

I'm fine for the trip (both days) but Tracey is only 50/50 at this stage. So I may have extra storage space for more wine. :D
