Lockyer National Park - explore and foodie trip 21st October

Post by GridPack »

We can think of this trip as part exploring a new patch of countryside and part foodie trip.
Lockyer National Park is a small National Park north of Gatton that I don't think we have yet visited as a club. I did a quick recon a couple months ago through part of it. It has some limited 4wd access - enough to make a nice drive on our way to lunch.
This should be a pleasant day out with some relatively easy 4WD'ing (if dry) and cross country gravel road driving to lunch at a very nice café/restaurant up in the hills at Ravensbourne on the Esk - Hampton Road. This café/restaurant has one the nicest views I've seen from a restaurant. We can either sit outside on the grassy slope under a tree picnic style or eat on the restaurant veranda.
Then cross country again for afternoon tea (scones and jam) to the historic Spring Bluff café at Murphys Creek before heading for home mid afternoon'ish.

Trip Leader: Don
Where: Lockyer National Park and surrounds
When : Sunday 21st October
Costs: Free - plus Lunch at Ravensbourne cafe and afternoon tea at Spring Bluff
Standard : Easy to Moderate
Meeting Location: Café in the mall with IGA SUPA supermarket in Railway Street (8 Railway Street) Gatton. I generally park in Crescent St at northern end of Railway Street and walk up.
Meeting Time: 9:00am
UHF: Channel 13.

Keri has been in touch - looks like she will be able to make this trip too.
Though she will need to leave us around 2.30pm to head back to work.
