12th Annual Fraser Island Clean Up
Call for Expressions of Interest
Hello Member Clubs,
The Annual Fraser Island Clean Up is once again being planned.
When: 9th – 11th June 2012
Location: Various locations around Fraser Island, in cooperation with QPWS.
What will be happening?
Friday afternoon - Registration Open, Arrive on the island, set up camp
Saturday morning - Registration Open, Arrive on the island, set up camp, time for your own club to explore the Island.
Sunday - Clean Up Activities, followed by a BBQ and entertainment.
Monday – explore some more and sadly time to pack and head home, unless you or your club want to extend the visit*
Where do we camp?
Each club will be designated a camp area (beach camping ONLY). If your club would like to use one of the designated Group Camping Areas at Central Station or Dundubara, please notify care@4wdqld.com.au
We request that clubs do NOT make their own arrangements for camping on the island.*
*QPWS vehicle & camping fees will again be waived for the long weekend. Of course, if any of your club’s members intend to arrive before or stay after the times stated above they will be required to pay all the normal fees applicable. Advising us of this scenario will mean that you may not have to relocate camp after the cleanup.
How do we get there?
4WD Qld are again negotiating the availability of reduced barge fares between Inskip Point and Fraser Island. Information on prices will be available closer to the event.
Our club is interested, how do we register?
This year, all clubs are being asked to initially notify 4WD Qld of their intention to participate in the clean-up, along with a rough number of participants. Once we have this number, we will be able to ascertain whether we need to limit the number of vehicles from each club. To advise of your club's interest, simply ask your CARE rep or Club Secretary to send an email with following information to care@4wdqld.com.au.
Club Name
Number of members
Number of vehicles
Clubs without email access are requested to send a letter with the same information to our normal mailing address.
NB: The event is only open to financial club members only. This means, only club members and their own children. No other family members or friends allowed.
Please advise your club's interest and numbers by March 31, 2012.
We will keep you updated over the coming months, in the meantime if you or your CARE rep have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Jenni pr@4wdqld.com.au or Darren care@4wdqld.com.au
With your help, we look forward to making this year’s clean up another successful 4WD Qld event!
Regards
Darren McElroy
