Teewah/Rainbow Beach trip weekend January 3rd - 5th

Post by Dalmatian »

There is a beach trip planned for Friday 3rd - Sunday 5th January.
We will be camping on the beach dunes in the camping zone on teewah beach.
There are approx. 2350 site still available... so we better get in quick :D

WHERE Teewah Beach
COST $5.60 per person per night http://parks.nprsr.qld.gov.au/permits/
VEHICLE PERMITS 1 day obtained via the internet $11.05
not obtained via the internet $16.55
1 week or less $27.70
http://nprsr.qld.gov.au/recreation-area ... _fees.html

The ferry at Tewantin (i think from memory) is $7

TRIP LEADER Tim (Dalmatian)
When Friday 3rd January 2014
Meeting Place & TIME BP Caboolture Travel Centre.... The really big one with all the fastfood restaurants. Meeting here at 11:30am, Leaving 12pm Sharp. If you miss us that's fine. Just meet up with us at the ferry at 1:45pmish (the last one there has to write up the trip report)
UHF Channel 13
Trip Standard However easy/hard you want to make it. blue square up to black diamond (in sections)

The time for low tide on the friday is around 4pm. So if we fuel up (both eskies and tanks), air down and hit the sand by 2pmish we'll have plenty of time to find a GREAT camp site.

There are PLENTY of tracks all around rainbow township that I will be leading us on. Some are dead ends, but still fun to try and reach that dead end.
Poverty Point has some nice tracks aswell.
Kings bore is pretty easy going right up until where it connects to the beach. Gets a bit tricky
If you like fishing then bring along your rods and tackle.

All in all, Its going to be a nice relaxing start to the new year.

Hi Tim,

Unfortunately we can only attend on the Saturday now as I need to attend a funeral Friday afternoon. A special service is also being held Sunday morning that I'd like to attend.

For people coming on the Saturday, would you like to meet at the Noosa side of the car ferry at 2:00pm? Tim, we will find your campsite at Teewah. Would you keep your UHF on channel 13 from 2:30pm, and we will yell out as we approach the camping zone.

We will probably join you around 2:30pm. Since we don't need to be off the beach until 7:00pm, we could join you for dinner, and hopefully a swim late in the afternoon (so we don't get too fried in the sun, and are able to enjoy the air-con for the vehicles during the day time.

I confirmed that the vehicle ferry will continue to operate through to midnight, so there is no hurry to exit the beach.
The ferry is located at the end of Moorindil St, Tewantin.

Its supposed to be 39 on Saturday so don't forget your sunscreen and a hat... You had better make it a waterproof hat because there are storms coming through in the evening.
Friday and Sunday look much better but I cannot make it down for the full weekend so will give this one a miss.

Hi Guys,

Tim and I plan to camp Saturday nite. I see the tide is high at 10:15 am so we will aim to get on the beach at 12:00 md.
A sleep in on Saturday morning, Dave is this too early for you? Thinking we maybe in the water most of the afternoon

See ya Saturday

I'm caving into pressure from my kids, as a couple wish to attend a "school friends" party on Saturday. So I give the Teewah Beech day trip a miss as I need to be home by 6:00pm, so Teewah is too far to return by that time.

I not sure where Daniel or Jason are meeting Tim, but you can probably meet Tim at his camp site. If you're on the beach by 12:00pm, then you'll probably be at the camping area by 12:30pm.

That's unfortunate Dave. Daniel is now meeting me on Friday. Jason is still coming on the Saturday.
I'll keep my radio on 13. Might even have a flag out.
Flag - green background, two rings around a heart in the center, wrapped in a pair of hands.

Alan are you thinking of getting on the beach at 12pm? I just need to let Jason know. He drives and a hilux. I think it would be more safe if he was with a patrol. ;-)
