HI Guys,
My Wife and my self have just moved to sunny QLD form could Melbourne with my two boys, 2 and 5yo. I am a mad 4wd enthaisest that used the VIC high country as my back yard and now keen on exploring the glass house mountains and all other parks around Brisbane.

I have a land cruiser 200 that is a recent upgrade from my hilux and is still a work in progress for mods. Looking to join a club like yours to get to know fellow 4WDers and to get to know the local tracks. Never been a part of a 4wd club but looking forward to get off road with like minded people. Your website looks like a fun club that I would be interested in and hoping to attend the monthly meeting and checking out the process.

Hi Kriz and Emily,

Welcome to the forum. Congratulations on your escape from Melbourne. The weather in Qld is definitely nicer.

Yes - the glasshouse mountains has lots of tracks, and ranges from simple tracks to extreme tracks. Just out of curiosity, do you almost take the 200 onto the beach? We have Bribie, Stradbroke, Moreton and Fraser Islands all not too far from Brisbane. Well, Bribie Island is connected via a bridge, so suitable for a day trip. As it gets warmer, we will organise a few dinner/champagne afternoons on Bribie Island, i.e. arrive in the afternoon, and when the sun sets, cook dinner on the beach while the kids run through a shallow and very warm lagoon.

There are also several 4x4 parks within 90 mins drive of Brisbane that are worth trying. But, probably almost as good yet more fun for the family are some of the national parks. Places like Bellthorpe and surrounding parks are very interesting to explore, and offer a range of tracks .... and are free to enter.

We have the club's AGM this Sunday (so a longer than usual meeting). You're more than welcome to attend the meeting, but also feel to come along on a trip that may interest you and/or your family. Just keep an eye on the trip calendar on the forum.

Cheers
Dave.
BTW - looks like you have a great setup, i.e. vehicle and trailer. They look great in the photo. And being a Toyota, they are made to be on the beach, like the 80 and 120 series (sorry - an in-house joke. I have a Prado 120, and it loves the beach too).

Thanks for the info Dave,
I have been to Cape York (OTT and any hard tracks that we could find) and Fraser Island with friends from Melbourne. So yeah the 200 has seen plenty of beach and sand. Thanks for the reply and I will keep an eye out for any upcoming trips.

Regards,
Kris

Hi Kris,

Welcome. I might try to organise a trip to the Glasshouse some time soon. It will be on a sunday as I now have Cricket every Saturday.

I have lots of GPX tracks of the area and know a few good hills.

G'day Ben,
Thats sounds awesome, really keen on the Glasshouse and Sunday is perfect. The 200 is ready to go with winch, 33's, front locker and all the recovery gear you could think off. Let me know when as i am keen as mustard.
