Christmas Outing - Day 1 18th November

Post by GridPack »

Our Christmas trip to Mt Warning gives a good opportunity to see a few sights in the Border Ranges National Park on the way to our Christmas dinner function at the Mt Warning Tavern.
For those interested in going the long way - the trip will kick off from the Beaudesert Maccas at 8.30am, then up along Lions Road to Smiths Road then into the Borders Range National Park.
The main road through the park Tweed Range Scenic Drive appears to be still cut at Bar Mountain, however I'm proposing to run along the Brindle Creek side track then on to the Pinnacle Lookout where after getting a magnificent view of the Rim and Mt Warning we can then backtrack out of the Park, and continue on to Uki via Kyogle. We'll have to time it to be at the campgrounds at a reasonable time to set up before dinner so I'll be watching the clock. You can leave your lockers at home for this one - I don't think we'll need to pop out of 2wd - but the scenery is spectacular.
A nice relaxing drive!

Bring along lunch - we'll stop at one of the picnic spots.

Where: Beaudesert - Border Ranges - Mt Warning
Cost: National Park Entrance fee approx. $8 per car.
When: 8.30 am Departure, 18th November
Meeting Place: Meet McDonalds Beaudesert
UHF: Channel 13

I'll meet you at Beaudesert Don. It's been too long since I've been on a drive so I'm looking forward to it.

Cheers,

Cos.
